Interactive stage + VR

POISON IVY. PARTICIPATIVE PERFORMANCE + AI +VR

DANCE PERFORMANCE IN IMMERSIVE AND PARTICIPATORY INSTALLATION IA/RV

Installation and performance project combining live performance, digital interaction in an immersive 3D virtual environment and artificial intelligence (AI). The title refers to a type of ivy that is poisonous to humans, invasive but beautiful, and also to a nature-loving character from an animated series. The performance explores and critiques the artificial connections we make with our natural environment.

Poison Ivy is an interactive project in which audience members use their smartphones to feed text to an AI that generates images. The images generated by the AI are integrated into a 3D environment explored in real time during the performance. The resulting digital landscape is projected as a backdrop to accompany the performers on stage.

The Digital Space is a 3D environment where hypernatural plants evolve and coexist with dynamic images that show us the results of prompts sent by the public to a generative artificial intelligence software. This creates a changing nd hybrid immersive digital environment, which referes to a digitally modified nature.

The installation is an immersive virtual reality (VR) environment in which the AI modifies the landscape to create a poetic simulation of non-human intelligence. The installation offers an artistic and educational experience that encourages reflection on the boundaries between nature and technology.

The Performance: This project is elaborated in a modular way with various formal exhibition proposals being defined, linked to the moments of techno-artistic development of the project and adapting to the exhibition spaces of the various local and international cultural agents.
On stage, three bodies: a performer, a dancer and a musician, equipped with sensors and graphic interfaces, conform the link between the audience and the virtual.
With a phhygital dramaturgy (hybridisation of physical-digital languages), the interactive actions of the audience and the performers activate sound and digital vegetation. Scenographic lighting elements respond to sound and chromatic inputs.
A virtual scenographic space generated in real time reflects the physical actions and digital reactions of artificial intelligence and is visualised on stage projected on large screens.
